Arrival and departure information for your holiday on Curacao

Arrival on Curacao
You will need a valid passport just as is the case in other countries. In the airplane each person will receive a landing card that must be filled in and given to the customs officials at the airport off Curacao. A part of this card will remain in your passport, and must be given to the customs department upon departure. Do not lose this card and keep it with your passport in the safe which is in the home.
Curacao Airport
Upon arrival you will first pass the passport checkpoint and then you can collect your luggage from the conveyor belt after which you will pass the luggage checkpoint. This usually happens very quickly.
There are luggage trolleys next to the conveyor belt for which you can pay for the use with US Dollars or a credit card, but there are also porters available.
If you have luggage on wheels then you will usually not need a trolley as you will find our caretaker waiting for you within 50 meters.
There is an ATM near the conveyor belt, but you will also find one outside; you can get Antillean Guilders with your bank card.
If our caretaker is picking you up, then he will be waiting outside the arrival hall for you. He will have a sign with your name on it.
(Please see the example below) The transport to the home will be very quick from this point on.

Departure to the Netherlands
When you leave the island, you must pay the airport tax if this has not been included in your airplane ticket, after checking in at the departure counter. (Most Dutch airlines usually already include the tax in the ticket costs!).
If you are flying with KLM then you can check in ahead of time online for your flight back to the Netherlands; this will make your luggage check-in a lot quicker than it has been in the past and you will not have to be at the airport hours ahead of time.
When you return to the Netherlands there will be an extensive check for drugs smuggling atSchiphol. This means that your documents and luggage will be checked several times, and your luggage will be on a conveyor belt in a separate, closed room in the arrival hall. This procedure can take quite a bit of time ( between getting off the plane and passing through customs it can be as much as 1 to 1,5 hours); please be aware of this when you let people know what time to pick you up.
